Everyone Say Cheese

So Facebook, among other sites, is a big time waster. In fact, Conan had a hilarious joke the other night on his "Year 3000" sketch. He said: "In the year 3000, You Tube, Twitter, and Facebook would merge into one huge time-wasting site called YOU TWIT FACE." This couldn't be more true.

Among other things, Facebook has little flash games that you can play against strangers or friends on your list. The lastest time sucking black hole is a game called Farm Town. Think early Sims meets Little House on the Prairie. Your personal avatar is responsible for planting crops that you harvest for coins. You get even more coins if you hire another Facebook minion to harvest for you. With each new level you reach, you can plant more rewarding crops and purchase more exciting animals. (llamas anyone?) Watching crops grow isn't any more exciting than watching paint dry, but there is an inner desire to succeed and move on to the next level of farmdom.

One of the fun aspects of the game is visiting the farms of your friends. Late Saturday night I popped over to Gertie Sue's (aka Happy Fun Pants) and lo and behold, she was hosting a party! Okay, not really, but 2 of her other friends, Monica and Harry Rex, (also friends in real life) had dropped by and we quickly found ourselves having a hilarious conversation courtesy of our cute avatars.
