This year I started a healthier lifestyle and have been using a BodyBugg as a tool to manage caloric burn. This morning I was down a total of 24 lbs since I began at the end of February. Go me! I thought it would be helpful to list a few of the lifestyle changes I've made. It's basically eat less, move more. It's really that simple. Tracking calories has been the key for me. If I want to eat something naughty, I do, but then I make up for it by either exercising or eating less. It's all about a balance. These are little things that haven't greatly impacted my way of life or decreased my happiness quotient, so really anyone could do it.
-- I start everyday with breakfast, which is a big change for me who used to never eat breakfast. I either have an Atkins shake, a bowl of oatmeal, or a whole wheat bagel.
-- I've cut out most high-calorie beverages. When you cut back on how many precious calories you get per day, you definitely don't want to waste them on drinks that won't fill you up. I used to have a couple glasses of milk with dinner. Now I have water.
-- I've switched up my Starbucks order. I don't go to Starbucks that often anyway, but when I do go, I try to order drinks with non-fat milk and sugar free syrup. Or, stick to tea.
-- I save drinking wine and beer for when I go out with friends. Having a few glasses of wine with dinner is a great way to end the day, but it's also an easy way to blow your deficit. Now having a drink is more special.
-- If I have a craving for something, I eat it! Otherwise it will fester and eventually I would just end up overindulging. Now I just go ahead and have what it is I want and generally find out it wasn't really worth it afterall. (Or sometimes it was totally worth it!)
-- Exercising! I love working out now. When you are out of shape, there's nothing worse than dragging yourself to the gym. But, once you start getting back to a level of fitness, it's not as much of a chore.
-- I've started training for a 5K. I'm taking it s-u-p-e-r slow because I've been having knee pain. The last thing I want to do is end up chronically injured. I'm using the Couch to 5K program, which makes it fun to track your progress.
-- Last but not least, I've just had a change of mindset. I'm tired of not having energy to do the things I love, so I decided this was it! The BodyBugg has been a great tool.
