The first installment of my irregular-regular music posting is about a quirky band I discovered last year on satellite radio: Matt & Kim. Oddly enough, even though they seem pretty harmless, I've found that Matt & Kim can be quite polarizing! I know a few people who loooooooove them and about an equal amount who haaaaaaaaate them (my sis-in-law included).
The reason why M&K intrigued me at first was the beat of their song 'Daylight'. Then it was the beat of their song 'Good Ol' Fashion Nightmare'. I also thought it was funny because I knew a married couple named Matt & Kim and I liked to picture them singing. Now it's the beat of their new single 'Cameras'. They are just two people who enjoy making music together. Matt plays keyboards and sings while Kim plays percussion.
There are particular lyrics from 'Cameras' that struck me:
"No time for cameras, we'll use our eyes instead."
There have been so many times when I've been somewhere or seen something that was so cool that I wanted to capture it with a photo, only to miss what was so neat fiddling with my camera or obsessing about trying to get the right shot. Has that ever happened to you? Perhaps sometimes we would be better off just capturing an image with our eyes and storing it in our memory rather than trying to preserve it digitally.
I also may be saying this because I'm a horrible photographer.
