I may be the only person on the planet who feels this way, but seeing photos for pets for sale or for free on the internet makes me sad. Okay, maybe not the ooooooonly person.
I feel bad because when the photo is taken of the pet, the pet does not know that it is actually being used to send him or her away to a scary new home. It doesn't know that it's face is going to be plastered on the internet or in the local newspaper among hundreds of other animals looking for a home. For all it knows, the pet is thinking that the owner must really be proud to be taking pictures of it.
In addition, I think that if a pet knew what the photo was for, the dog or cat would want the opporunity to put their best paw forward. For example, if they look cuter from the left side, they would prefer that picture be distributed. This way they have the best chance of getting the nicest new owner.

Now, do you think the dog realized that this picture was going to be her one chance for a great new home? No, of course not. If it was, she wouldn't have been photographed being lazy on the sofa and would have cleaned her chin.

This is a sad post. What if the photo was taken before the owner thought of giving the pet away? Imagine how the photo was taken when everything was happier?
AND many "free" pets end up as scientific test specimens!
It's just sad all around when people give up their family members!
